Normalizer Transformation In Informatica

Normalizer Transformation

 - The Normalizer transformation can be used in two differene ways in Informatica mappings:
1. Pipeline Normalizer Transformation: A transformation that processes multiple-occurring data from relational tables or flat files is called as Pipeline Normalizer.
Ø  returns a row for each instance of the multiple-occurring data.
Ø  Relational and flat file sources can be connected as input to Pipeline Normalizer
Ø  The Pipeline Normalizer transformation receives a row that contains multiple-occurring columns and Threre will be two control elements called level and occurs
Ø  The occurs clause defines the number of occuring elements for each key object
Ø  The Level property of Normalizer allows you to group the data at different Levels
Ø  The Occurs property of Normalizer allows you to specify number of occuring instances of a source
2. VSAM Normalizer Transformation :  The Normalizer transformation can be aslo used as a source qualifier transformation to read data from COBOL sources. This transformation which can be connected to COBOL sources to read data is called VSAM Normalizer Transformation
Below is an example of General Configuration of a Normalizer transformation for Quarterly Sales data.

Ø  The Pipeline Normalizer generates values for two columns by default GK & GCID
Ø  GK: Generated Key value
The Normalizer transformation increments generated key sequence each time it processes a source row.
Ø  GCID: Generated Column ID

The Normalizer transformation returns a generated column ID (GCID) for each instance of a multiple-occurring field
